Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 10th December
Date: 14th Dec 2018 @ 4:14pm
Our week began with reflecting on our wonderful nativity performance. The children were incredibly proud of themselves and it was brilliant to be able to celebrate the success with them.
In Literacy, we have been writing letters. A piece of modelled writing showed the children the format of a letter and the important parts that must be included. The children then went on to write their own letter independently using finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. All children are trying extremely hard with their letter formation and sounding out words.
Addition and numbers to 20 has been our focus in maths this week. As we had a variety of Christmas objects left by Father Christmas, we thought we should count how many items there were to help him out on Christmas Eve. The children have a good understanding of the addition and equal signs as well as how to add a number sentence together. Our homework this week is an extension of this, so we are hoping that they will be able to complete this independently.
Our afternoons have consisted of Christmas preparations. We have been making cards, decorations and learning songs.
Now we certainly can’t forget our wonderful trip to see ‘Wind in the Willows’ on Wednesday. The performance was fantastic! All children were enthralled with the performance and spent much of Thursday talking about it.
Next week is our last week of term. On Monday, we have our Christmas party. We are asking the children to bring some party clothes in with them so they can get changed in the afternoon. On Thursday, we have our Carol Service at the Church. This will start at 2pm and we will be leaving school at 1.20pm if you wish to walk down with us.
Many thanks. The Reception Team
