Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 3rd June

Date: 6th Jun 2019 @ 12:14pm

What a wonderful first week back! It has been great to see the children back in school and ready for their last term in Reception.

Early on Wednesday morning, Mr Spilsbury came in to tell us about a strange hole that had appeared on the school field. He asked for our help to try and figure out what may lie beneath so we headed out to investigate. As we approached, we could see a note and a book, The Something by Rebecca Cobb, lying next to the hole. We later found out that there wasn’t only one animal living beneath our school, there were in fact families of animals making themselves at home. We went on to write questions for the animals and then describe the garden scene.

In Maths, we have been exploring money, the value of coins and what they could be used for. After established what each coin value was worth we moved on to counting coins in a money bank. Later we played shops and used coins to buy some of our favourite food.

In topic we have been doing technical drawings of rabbits. We started by looking at the outline before following instructions to create detail. Please take a look at some of them in our gallery.

We have also done ‘diddi rugby’ as part of our PE sessions this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the sport and taking part in a game.

This week for homework we are sending home the children’s words for the assembly. Therefore we are asking them to learn these off by heart so we can hit the ground running with practise next week.
