Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 28th September 2020
Date: 2nd Oct 2020 @ 3:45pm
What a wonderful week it has been in Reception and we must say we feel it has been the best yet!
Cinderella day was a real success and the children have talked about it ever since. We hope it has created some lovely memories for them. We spent the day decorating cookies, reading fairy stories and our highlight was ballroom dancing in the hall.
Story sequencing, recognising the characters and exploring the setting have been our literacy focus this week. We’ve challenged the children to start applying their phonics knowledge by labelling objects and people from the story. It’s great to see the children becoming confident with the sounds we’ve been learning these past few weeks.
We’ve looked at patterns in maths this week and challenged the children to replicate them as well as sequencing numbers 1-5.
We had our first ever whole school assembly this morning broadcasted via webcam. It was an exciting experience for the class and the children loved getting to see their siblings on the big screen.
A polite reminder that from Monday, no toys are to be brought into the classroom. We have noticed a significant increase in the amount being brought in and unfortunately, due to risk posed with the current situation, we need to minimise contact between home and school wherever possible. Thank you for your understanding and support with this.
We hope you have a restful weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday,
The Reception Team.
