Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 25th March
Date: 28th Mar 2019 @ 4:31pm
Well what another busy week it has been in Reception!
In Literacy, we have been writing about our favourite parts of Lost and Found ready to tell the penguins on our visit to Peak Wildlife Park on Monday. We have been able to discuss many different elements and give reasons to justify our answers. It is lovely to see how the children’s vocabulary is expanding as they are using words heard within our Literacy lessons.
Addition and subtraction has been our main focus this week in maths. We have discussed what the different signs mean and then worked independently to show our knowledge. Although at first some of these were catching us out, by the end of the week our confidence had grown and we were able to complete individually. Why not try seeing what they know at home? You could start with sums to ten and then twenty.
During the afternoons we have been busy preparing for a very special day this weekend as well as doing observational drawing. It was wonderful to see the children's reactions when they realised they could draw independently.
Thank you to all of the parents who came to church. The children were marvellous and they loved learning their song. This week they have also been making an Easter garden and crosses.
Once again we would thank you for your continued support with all of our activities in school. The raffle for Cancer Research UK and Mother’s Day presents all went down very well and the children’s thoroughly enjoyed taking part.
Just a little reminder about our trip on Monday - we will be leaving school just after 9am and returning before the end of the day. We are asking all children to wear their school uniform and bring a pack lunch if they have not ordered one from the kitchen (all pack lunches and drinks to be put in a plastic bag so that it can be thrown away after lunch please). The weather is looking okay at the moment, but we do ask that the children bring a light waterproof coat just in case.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun!
