Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 1st April

I can’t believe we have reached the end of the Spring term! It doesn’t seem like five minutes since the children started school and next term will see us preparing for Year 1. Where has the time gone?
The highlight of this week must be our trip to Peak Wildlife Park. What a wonderful trip it was! We started by seeing the otters and meerkats and soon moved on to walking with penguins. During this time, we were able to ask many questions which helped us find out useful facts. Did you know, penguins use their own poo to make their houses? Delightful! After enjoying our lunch, we moved on to looking at the giant rabbits and even had a little time to play on the bouncy castle. We cannot thank the children enough for their wonderful manners and great behaviour – it was commented on by the members of staff at the park.
When we got back to school we decided to write about our trip and practise our skills of re-reading our work, so we know what to write next. The writing that has been produced is wonderful and we have even been able to get our writing medal out!
On Tuesday, we had a resurrection day. The children learnt about the different parts of the Easter story in an assembly before heading back to class to explore the difference between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. All children were able to comment about how Good Friday is seen as a sad day to Christians, but Easter Sunday is always a joyous and happy occasion.
This week we have been making lovely Easter cards and decorations. We hope you are able to enjoy them and share with family over the holiday.
We finished the week with a traditional Easter egg hunt. Great fun was had by all!
