Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 18th November
Date: 22nd Nov 2019 @ 12:46pm
Between ‘Naughty Bus’ day, learning our nativity lines and making aeroplanes, we have had yet another fun filled week.
‘Naughty Bus’ day was a roaring success on Wednesday. All of the children enjoyed dressing up and sharing their stories with their friends in the classroom. The day started with a surprise visit from the Naughty Bus which seemed to be a hit with the children. It then moved on to labelling pictures, writing stories and drawing pictures of the main character from our focus topic book. Please see the photos attached.
In Maths this week we have been looking at comparing and finding ‘more’. This started by looking at bunches of flowers and distinguishing which pot had more flowers in it, before moving on to comparing numbers of pieces of fruit and justifying who had more. We will be continuing this next week.
In Literacy, we have had a big focus on hearing all sounds words and filling in the missing gap. The children have been able to do this as well as recall their phonics knowledge. In addition we have started to write sentences and use capital letters and full stops.
Nativity practise is in full swing now. The children are becoming more familiar with the songs and we will be starting to say our lines from next week. The homework this week is to learn their lines. Please encourage the children to become familiar with the lines before and after their own as this will help the flow of the show. Each child has been given a nativity script with the highlighted lines. If you have any questions please let us know.
Next week we have our Christmas fair on Friday 29th November from 6pm. It would be wonderful to see as many of you there as possible.
Have a lovely weekend.
