Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 11th November

Date: 15th Nov 2019 @ 4:47pm

We have enjoyed another busy week in Reception and it has been wonderful to see the children all working incredibly hard and progressing in their learning.

In Maths we have been sorting objects by looking at their size, shape and colour. It has been interesting to see the suggestions that the children have come up with. Next week we will be moving on to look at comparing groups.

During our Literacy lessons we have continued to become familiar with the story of Naughty Bus by recreating its journey and adding in detail as well as writing key words related to the story. In addition to this the children are now extremely familiar with the talk for writing actions of the story which we performed to Mrs McLean earlier in the week.

Also this week we have been taking part in Remembrance Day activities and had a visit to Church. We would like to thank all parents who walked down with us. Please see pictures for more details.

Our Nativity is fast approaching so this week we have sent home costume letters and next week we will be sending home their lines to learn. We will be starting rehearsals next week so look forward to getting in full swing with their practise.

For homework this week, we could like the children to practise writing and reading CVC words, such as; cat, zig, hat, get, pat etc. If they are finding that they are able to do this, move them on to CVCC words such as desk, sink and nest. It is important that they are able to pronounce each sound in the word before moving on. Please also remember we love to see children completing homework challenges from our initial suggested items. Do encourage the children to bring these in to school to share with the class.

Don’t forget that next week we will be having a ‘dress up’ day. This is a time for the children to come as anything or anyone who might enjoy a ride on the Naughty Bus. The main focus of this day is communication and language, so they children will be spending time explaining to others why they have chosen that character as well as taking part in many other activities. We can’t wait to hear all sorts of wonderful stories.

Have a lovely weekend.
