Reception's Blog - Week Beginning Monday 11th February

Date: 15th Feb 2019 @ 8:37am

What an exciting week we have had! We have enjoyed making some Valentine’s Day cards, rescuing our star and learning to tell the time.

In Literacy we have been writing about the different things we love. After looking at our modelled writing, we all went on to think about some of the things we love most in the world and this formed the basis of our writing. This week we have had a push on using some of our reception high frequency words such as: are, and, am, come and all. Over the next half term, the children will encouraged to use these words more often so it would be great idea to have a look at these during the break.

In Maths our focus has been on time. We have looked at sequencing days of week, ordering different activities throughout the day and even  making our own clock. The children were counting up to the number 12, filling in the missing numbers and then telling the time to o’clock. If you would like to continue this work at home, please make the children familiar with the hands on the clock, what each hand can mean and asking them the time when it is o’clock.

We would like to thank everyone for their support with the NSPCC fundraiser sports day today. The children loved participating in the activities and wearing their silly sportswear.

We hope you have a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 25th February.
