Reception Week Beginning Monday 9th November
Date: 12th Nov 2020 @ 9:09pm
Remembrance, God’s family, Diwali, sequencing stories and sorting objects have been our main themes in Reception this week.
On Tuesday, we began learning about Remembrance; what it meant and why we still show our respect today. We watched a very touching video from cbeebies and the children grasped the concept of why we pay our respects, say thank you and remember the soldiers who fought for our country. We then went outside with Mr Simmons and created a whole class poppy using leaves on the field. On Wednesday, we went on to make poppies from cake cases and wear them for our two minute silence. These have now been displayed in our classroom and many people have asked the children about them already.
Another highlight from this week has been our celebration of Diwali. The children learnt about how this is the festival of light. We made lanterns, necklaces, decorated hands and coloured patterns.
In Literacy, we have been sequencing the story of Juniper Jupiter. The children knew the story really well and were able to put the pictures in the correct order. Next week we will move on to changing the characters in the story.
In Maths, we have been sorting items in to different groups and looking at the things that the items have in common before sorting different groups. We will continue to do this in our continuous provision next week.
A little reminder that we have our ‘superhero dress up day’ on Tuesday 17th November, if you have any problems then please let me know.
I hope you enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
