Reception Week Beginning Monday 8th July

Date: 16th Jul 2019 @ 9:06am

As you can see from our previous post, we had a rather exciting week. The highlight has to be our trip to Trentham Gardens. The children behaved impeccably, explored many new parts of the woodlands and had lots of fun on the bare foot walk.

In Literacy, we have been writing a recount about our trip as well as starting some work on our book reviews of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. On Wednesday morning, we looked through the pictures from our trip and then went on to write a recount of the activities. It was lovely to hear the different parts of the day that the children enjoyed the most.

In Maths we have been measured using rulers. After exploring the numbers on the ruler and how to use them accurately, we gathered a variety of bears and measured them. All the children are looking forward to continuing this work in Year 1.

We also had our Teddy Bear’s picnic to welcome Preschool. The children worked very hard to create a picnic by making sandwiches - they are all very eager to be buddies with the new pupils joining in September.

We have now stopped setting homework as we enter the last few weeks of Reception, so the children can take the time to rest as we can see they are all rather tired.

A littler reminder that we have our leavers Church service at 2pm at St.Oswald’s Church on Wednesday 24th July; it would be lovely to see as many of your there as possible.
