Reception ~ Week Beginning 14th September

A wonderful week…

..has been had by all.

 In Maths we have been learning about Numicon, a highly regarded maths resource where each number between 1-10 is represented by a coloured tile.   We will be using this apparatus a great deal in Reception (and beyond) so we have spent the week familiarising ourselves with it.  We have lots of fun printing in play dough, creating pictures and matching the correct number of pegs.

In Literacy we have been looking at the story of Rumpelstiltskin.  We were very surprised to receive a letter and a set of instructions from Rumpelstiltskin, telling us how to spin straw in gold.  We were able to make our own copy of the instructions and we were very excited when we discovered we had been successful!

In RE we have been looking at ‘Belonging.’  We have discussed how we belong to our families and to Brereton School.  If any of the children are members of clubs or teams please do bring in their uniforms/badges to share with us.

This week we also had our first PE lesson with the Sports Northwest coaches and our first music lesson with Mrs Taylor.  No wonder we are all so tired!
