Reception ~ W/B 5th October 2015
Date: 8th Oct 2015 @ 9:55pm
A Fantastic Week!
I cannot believe the children have only been in school a month! They have settled into school life brilliantly and coped with the busy sessions and new routines fabulously. Well done Reception!
This week we have been using non-fiction books to find out about castles. We looked at the features of a non-fiction book and how they are different to fiction books. Your child should have brought home a non-fiction text. With your child see if you can find the following features:
- Contents Page
- Index
- Glossary
- Photographs
- Labels
- Diagrams
- Captions
- Fact Boxes
We then used what we had learnt to label the parts of a castle. We also had fun labelling things around the classroom…there are post it notes everywhere!
In Numeracy we have been learning about repeating patterns. We have been using Numicon tiles, vegetables and even ourselves to continue and create patterns.
This week we also began our Global Project. We have been learning the Christian story of Creation and we have been busy making a book to send to the pupils of our link school, St Lawanga. Completed photos should be on display next week!
Many thanks for all of the kind donations for Harvest. The Middlewich Foodbank is a fantastic, local charity and I am sure they will be very pleased!
Have a lovely weekend!
