Reception W/B 25th April

This week...

We have had a brilliant week in reception. This week the children helped me to write our class blog.  Here it what they wanted to share with you.

We have been looking at the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff.’ The children have been telling the story using our story map.

“We have been learning to tell the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  We drew pictures of the troll and we made up smiles to describe them.”

“The troll has feet as sticky as ear wax!”

The children love the story and have enjoyed writing similes about the troll.

“He has eyes like pools of fire.”

In maths we have be adding money together to find out how much things cost. We made fruit kebabs and ice cream and worked out how much they would cost. The children loved it!

“We have been adding money together.  We had to find out how much it was to buy real ice cream and a real fruit kebab.”

In RE we have been learning about adults who help us continuing our theme of friendship.

“We painted pictures of people who are our best friends and help us.”  We drew mummies, Miss Goff, dance teachers and the Queen!

“Mrs Betteley brought in Elliott (her Grandson).   

This week Mrs Betteley brought in her grandson so we could look at the things we can do as babies compared to the things we can do now.

Finally we have looked at the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and learnt about May Day.

“We looked at the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We drew pictures, stuck down pictures from the story and wrote labels.”

“We made flower baskets for May Day.”

 For our homework there is ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ food diary for the children to fill in.
