Reception ~ WB 24th April 2017
Date: 30th Apr 2017 @ 11:52pm
Another busy week…
In Literacy this week we have been innovating the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We looked at different story settings and discussed what characters might live there. Once we had innovated our stories we wrote a description of our main character. Next week we will begin writing our innovations.
In Maths we have been learning about those tricky teen numbers. We have ordered number cards and played snap. Why not try this at home? Miss Colley also delivered a lesson on capacity. We learnt that tall, narrow containers don’t hold as much liquid as some short, wide containers. Why not try testing different containers at home?
Our RE lessons have seen us continue to learn about Jesus and his disciples. We listened to the story of how Jesus met his friends and we discussed how both Jesus and the disciples trusted one another. Following this we played various games where we had to trust our partner. We had lots of fun but we also recognised it can be hard to trust people right away.
This week we have also celebrated ‘May Day.’ The children made some wonderful crowns whilst we listened to traditional Maypole music. We learnt that May Day celebrates the beginning of summer and people traditionally decorate their home with flowers. We hope you all have a wonderful May Day!
Next Friday 5th May I will be on a writing course with Mrs Wood and Mrs Grey will be covering the class. From Monday 8th- Wednesday 10th I will be with Year 4 in York. Miss Ashworth, who previously worked in Y5 with Mrs Wood, will be teaching the class, ably supported by Miss Sherliker, Miss Colley and Miss Hay. Should you have any concerns do not hesitate to speak to Miss Sherliker and I look forward to seeing the children again following the residential.
