Rehearsals Have Begun!
Our Nativity is fast approaching so we have started putting the performance together and practising it in it's entirety. The children are doing really well and we will continue to rehearse next week. Thank you for all of the wonderful costumes. On Friday, we ask that the children line up as normal and we will take them into the classroom to get changed. Parents and grandparents are then welcome to go straight into the hall (using the door at the back of the hall, by the Year 1 classroom) where there will be refreshments. We will bring the children through as soon as they are ready, which will hopefully be between 9:20-9:30 and the performance will last approximately 30 minutes. We ask that you do not use flash photography during the performance and we will provide an opportunity for photos at the end. If taking pictures or videos please ensure you do not include other children without the express permission of their parents. A member of staff will video the performance and we will look at getting copies to you ( if anyone is handy with technology please let me know!).
We had a wonderful time at the theatre on Monday. The children all sat well and they particularly enjoyed the fight scenes! Following the trip we have been inspired to change our KS1 Reading area into a pirate ship, so every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 has a pirate handbook to compile. We can't wait to see the finished articles!
In Literacy this week we were very excited to meet Cinderella and ask her the questions we wrote last week. We also listened to her problems and tried to suggest solutions.
In Maths we have been looking at coins and exploring the value of them. We had great fun playing Higher or Lower and we could talk about the similarities and differences. We have also started looking at number bonds and we used counters and Numicon to investigate different ways of making five and six, and then recording these as a sum.
We have continued to learn about keeping healthy and this week we have learnt how to keep our teeth healthy. We had lots of fun practising brushing our teeth correctly and we have set up an experiment to find out how different drinks affect our teeth.
Thank you to all who attended the Christmas Fair, it was lovely to see you all. Thank you also for all of the donations of cakes, toys and sweet jars. It certainly is starting to feel a lot like Christmas!
