A Wonderful Week!
We started the week with our fantastic pirate day! Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who attended…the boats looked fantastic. Please check out our gallery items to see some of the photos. Thank you also for your support with costumes.
In Maths this week we have been learning about halving. We began by having cakes and shapes before moving on to halving numbers. We investigated whether all numbers can be halved and found they couldn’t. By splitting treasure between treasure chests, we were able to find half of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Some of use even halved numbers up to 20.
In Literacy we have continued writing our Captain Yellowbelly innovations. We have also started learning a new story, The Three Brave Pirates.
The children have been working really hard in Phonics this week. Miss Sherliker’s phonics groups have been looking again at the sounds or and ar. They have also been reading and writing words containing the st blend (stop, step). Miss Goff’s group have been learning the sounds a_e (make), i_e (like) and o_e (note). There are some tricky High Frequency Words containing these sounds so if you could practise writing these at home that would be really helpful. They include like, time, home, make, made and came.
During the afternoons we have been busy preparing for a very special day this weekend. We hope you like what we have made!
Thank you to all of the parents who came to church on Friday. The children were marvellous and they have loved learning their song. This week they have also been making an Easter garden and crosses.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun!
