Reception ~ WB 17th April

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break. It was lovely to see all of the children again…I’m sure they have all grown!

On Tuesday we arrived to discover one of our chairs had been broken. We also found some porridge smeared on our desks and two yellow ribbons. We concluded that we must have had an intruder by the name of Goldilocks! Without hesitation, we wrote wanted posters to warn other classes about this mischievous visitor.

On Thursday we were very fortunate to have a visit from a police officer called Jim. He showed us different equipment and clothing that the police used and explained all the different ways that the police help us. We also told Jim about Goldilocks and he promised to keep an eye out for her.

The next day, a very puzzled looking Goldilocks arrived in our classroom and demanded to know why we had set the police on her! Once we explained what happened she decided it might have been her younger brother, Peter, who broke our chair. Fortunately, she has taken it away to be repaired and she has promised to find out exactly what happened. We will keep you updated!

In Maths, we have been working with our Kagan partner to revise our number bonds to 10. In RE we have started our new topic, Discipliship and we have learnt about Jesus’ friends who helped him. This week we have also created some lovely watercolour paintings, in the style of our new spotlight author, Beatrix Potter. They will look wonderful in our new book corner.

Apologies for not sending home word and sound wallets! These will go out on Monday. Children will now have spellings to practise instead of new words, but please feel free to add to the word cards if you find them useful. We have also started displaying this week’s work in our class window so do take a look!
