Week 2!
We have enjoyed another busy week in Reception and it has been wonderful to see the children all working incredibly hard and progressing with their learning.
In Maths we have been learning about addition. We have explored what the symbols mean, and we have used Numicon or number lines to solve sums. Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on addition in different contexts.
During our Literacy lessons we have continued to look at the story of Cinderella. We have written labels for objects from the story and we have been thinking of adjectives to describe the characters in the story. On Wednesday we received excited news that Cinderella would be coming to visit us next week, so we have been busy writing questions we want to ask her.
This week we have also been learning how to wash our hands properly. The children all did really well and received certificates. But we weren’t sure why it was so important to wash our hands, so we have set up a little experiment. We all came in from lunch (with very mucky hands!) and handled a piece of bread, before placing it in a zip lock bag. We then repeated the process, but we washed our hands with just water, then water and soap, before using water, soap and gel. We can’t wait to see what happens to each slice!
Following our trip to Tatton, we have started to look at how homes have changed over time. The children enjoyed drawing comparisons between their homes and those displayed. Why not look out for homes from the past when out and about?
Our Nativity is fast approaching so we have sent home lines to learn. It would be helpful if the children knew when to speak (you read the line before) and they could deliver their lines with volume. We will start rehearsals next week!
Don’t forget next Friday is our Christmas Fair. If you are able to help please come and speak to me. Our class stall is glitter tattoos and nails and as Miss Sherliker and I will be busy helping a special someone gather orders, we would greatly appreciate your help.
Have a wonderful weekend!
