Our First Full Week!
What a busy week! On Monday we attended our first whole school worship and the Year 6 pupils read prayers, welcoming the children. On Tuesday we had our very first PE lesson with Mr Jones. He was so impressed with the pupils’ behaviour and engagement that he awarded his first certificate to the Reception Class. Well done everyone! On Friday we had our first Celebration Assembly – Well done to Harryjoe who got the teacher certificate for excellent effort in Phonics; to Paige who got the children’s certificate for sharing with others and, finally, to Elena who was awarded the School Council certificate for marvellous manners.
This week we also started our phonics sessions. The pupils have worked really hard and impressed Miss Sherliker and I with their determination. Our focus sounds this week have been s, m and d. Please practise writing these letters using the following prompts:
- m – Down Maisie, mountain, mountain
- s – Slither down the snake
- d – Round the dinosaur’s bottom, up his tall neck and down to his feet
Try to spot these letters when out and about. Use them as you focus when playing ‘I spy’ and see how many things you can find beginning with that letter.
Our story this week has been ‘Only One You.’ This is a wonderful story full of inspiring messages. The children then made colourful paper fish as well as using acrylic paint to make their own pebble fish. I will upload a picture of the display as soon as it is complete.
Next week we will be looking at the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and starting our maths lessons, where we will be learning about Numicon. See you all on Monday!
