What a chilly week it’s been but a busy one none the less!
This week in literacy we have been introduced to a new Oliver Jeffers story, ‘How to Catch a Star’ which fits in perfectly with our new topic of space. We’ve been writing about the things we would like to do if we could visit space which included seeking out aliens and trying out space food! Additionally, Mrs Taylor challenged us to write a question to NASA so we could find out interesting facts about astronauts; unsurprisingly we were most concerned with how they managed ‘to poo and wee in space’. We’re hoping to get a response once we’ve posted them so keep your fingers and toes crossed!
We’ve had a tricky maths topic this week when we learned all about capacity with standard and non-standard measurements. A lot of us predicted that the tall, thin containers would hold the most space juice and the shorter, wider containers would spill over. We were very surprised to find out that in some cases, the tallest doesn’t always mean the biggest.
Thursday was a particularly exciting day as the whole school, including teachers, dressed up for World Book Day. It was a lovely opportunity to share our favourite stories with children from different classes and we had a lot of fun guessing who was who. Thank you very much for your participation with what turned out to be a fantastic day.
Wrap up warm and have a lovely, relaxing weekend.
