A short but jam packed week!
In Maths we have been practising addition using number lines, learning our number bonds to 10 and solving written addition problems.
In Literacy this week, we have looked at different ways of starting a story and have even planned our own. Mrs Payne challenged us to include as many “wow” words or adjectives as we could to make sure that our stories were exciting. Some of these included “fantastic”, “amazing” and even “mysterious”.
During our topic time, we have been super scientists; we went outside into the sunshine to explore how rainbows are made. We learnt that rainbows are formed when rays of the sun strike falling raindrops and they are curved because of the raindrops shape. By using spray bottles, we were able to squirt water and create rainbows in the mist. Mrs Taylor also filled glasses with water and by turning the glass over white paper, we could see a rainbow form on the sheet s- they looked beautiful! Did you know that a long time ago people referred to rainbows as magical bridges across the sky?
We also learnt how to keep our bodies healthy in our wonderful world; we used our own ‘school-grown’ cress to make delicious sandwiches. We used lots of different salad to make our cheese and ham sandwiches and some of us tried red onion for the first time – all positive reviews! We had great fun making these and the best part was getting to eat them - mmm yummy!
We’ve also been working super hard to gain leaves for our ‘Achievement Tree’. Our teachers think some of the reasons on our leaves are absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work!
