Wow, what another busy week we’ve all had.
In maths we have been doubling numbers. We tried matching spots on ladybirds, we cut shapes in half to show understanding that they need to the same size, so it’s fair and we even used sweeties to find halves and doubles.
We had a surprise letter from the zookeeper at Chester Zoo this week in literacy. Apparently a penguin has escaped and was last seen heading towards our school. We were asked to create a lost poster containing important, descriptive information that told us what it looked like and what it might eat if it was lost and hungry. Many of us worked independently and it was fantastic to see how confident we’ve become with segmenting and letter formation.
As you all know, we looked at the importance of health and wellbeing this week in SRE and had an open discussion about efficient ways to keep our bodies clean and healthy. We had a brief talk about the physical similarities and differences of boys and girls and we’ve been very impressed with the maturity the children have shown. We shared lots of appropriate questions and enjoyed discovering what things made us special and unique.
We learnt about Shrove Tuesday and why pancakes were made before Lent. Our favourite part was sampling all of the sweet toppings, they were delicious. Even Mrs Riley and Mrs Sant visited us to try them. We recommended the chocolate syrup.
Friday was filled with art, music and even more yummy food. We learnt about Chinese New Year, made Chinese Dragons, lanterns and wrote our names in Chinese. We learnt a fantastic Chinese dance and ended our day sampling Chinese food. Delicious!
We hope you all have a wonderful half term holiday, filled with fun, laughter and quality time spent together.
Mrs Taylor, Miss Sherliker and Mrs Payne.
