A week filled with sunshine and smiles!
In maths this week, we have been learning about different ways to collect and record information. As a class, we discussed our favourite fruits and learnt how to put our new data into a tally chart as well as display it in a pictogram.
In literacy this week we have been focusing on healthy living. We have written about our favourite healthy foods, followed a recipe for 'Strawberry Oat Bars' and used adjectives to describe the fruit we tasted in class. Some of us thought it was delicious and juicy.
We had a special visitor in who helped us understand how to care for our teeth and taught us about the importance of brushing them for two minutes, twice a day. Did you know that we only need to use a pea-size amount of toothpaste each time? After this session we designed a 'healthy plate' of food; we needed to select foods that were low in sugar and good for our bodies. Verity, the dental nurse, also told us about the different microscopic germs that are found on our teeth and so we designed our own to remind us to keep our bodies healthy.
To follow on from our 'healthy living' week, we have been busy keeping our outdoor kitchen clean and tidy. We told Mrs Taylor that germs can be found everywhere and so we asked to wash our pots and pans with soapy water.
Finally, what am amazing end to the week. Sports Day was a great success and each child participated and behaved brilliantly. We were super proud to see how well they coped in the heat and it was lovely to get to experience their first 'big school Sports Day' together. We were very pleased to have Miss Sherliker there too. Thank you to all who came to support, we hope you had as much fun as we did!
Enjoy your sunny weekend!
