Happy Friday everyone! We hope your week has been as wonderful as ours.
In literacy this week we've had the chance to write our own stories based on the book “The bear that went BOO, using different Artic animals. Some of us used a sneaky reindeer as our main character and others liked the thought of an Artic fox shouting 'BOO!' We worked really hard on remembering where to use our capital letters, fingers spaces and full stops.
We started to look at number lines in maths this week and we used them to help us solve addition sentences. They were really tricky as a lot of the answers were beyond ten and so we had to really concentrate when writing down our 'teen' numbers and being sure to put the 1 first.
Our outdoor area has had a revamp and so during our choosing times in the afternoon we've been able to explore what it has on offer. The mud kitchen provided us with some delicious cakes and pastries and we loved building in the construction area. Remember: safety first. Hi-vis and hard hats at all times!
An exciting part of our week was when preschool joined us and we got to try some food that we hadn't had before. Mrs Taylor taught us all about 'Burns Night' and we learnt that they traditionally ate haggis, 'neeps' and 'tatties' whilst celebrating. We were fortunate enough to try some for ourselves and despite the hesitation; it was a hit with the majority of the class. We were particularly ready for a snack as Miss Sherliker had been teaching us some Scottish dancing which proved very bouncy. It definitely helped us work up an appetite!
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to hearing all about it on Monday,
Miss Sherliker, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Payne.
