Reception W.B 05.03.18
Date: 9th Mar 2018 @ 3:52pm
As always, a busy week down here in Reception Class!
In maths we have been learning more about addition and subtraction and have challenged ourselves to see if we can write our own number sentences. Some of us were even able to create sums using numbers in the 20s and 30s – wow!
We’ve also had a little visitor in our classroom this week that we’ve been unable to find. He’s small, only very young and we think he’s green. A little, baby alien has been sneaking around our school and we’ve been using our literacy lessons to create instructions on ‘how to catch an alien’. As we’re not really sure what he looks like we’ve challenged our imaginations to create and describe an alien of our very own. Some had 5 belly buttons, some were rainbow coloured and one even had 12 legs! We’ve also continued with our story ‘How to catch a star’ by Oliver Jeffers and can even retell it using our ‘Talk for Writing’ actions; perhaps we could show you at home? Once upon a time there lived a little boy who loved stars…
As it’s a special day on Sunday, we couldn’t very well go through the week without creating a little something for our favourite Mummies. We don’t want to give anything away in case they’ve managed to keep the secret but we hope you enjoy your yummy, handmade treats and gifts. You’re all very lucky to have children who put so much love and care into their presents – they really all do think the world of you!
A couple of reminders for this coming week:
Tuesday afternoon is ‘stay and make’ in which we’ll be inviting parents/grandparents/carers to come in and help us create some very exciting rockets and moon buggies. We’ll be providing glue, tape, paints and brushes but please do bring all the essential resources you will need for the big build – go and raid that recycling bin!
Thursday is our Reception and Year 1 school trip to Spaceport. Please can all children arrive at the usual time but come straight into classroom ready for the obligatory toilet trip and organising of groups. For those that have ordered a school packed lunch you won’t need to bring anything additional with you but for any that haven’t, do please bring a packed lunch containing things that can be disposed of (cartons or shop bought bottles rather than bottles that need returning).
Parent’s consultations are also next week with two appointment slots still available for Monday morning but for anyone that hasn’t booked and wishes to, there will also be a parents evening on Thursday 4pm-7pm.
Have the most wonderful weekend celebrating your lovely families and enjoy Sunday!
Miss Sherliker, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Payne.
