Reception W.B 02.07.18

Date: 6th Jul 2018 @ 4:22pm

What an amazingly warm week we’ve all had, we managed to keep cool though by practising our maths skills…in the water tray. We have been learning how to measure lengths using cm and measuring capacity using litres and ml.

In Literacy this week, we have been writing our own stories and writing conversations using speech bubbles.  It was quite tricky but we had fun imaging our toys in the classroom could talk.

In topic, we have been using a globe and a world map to find out where in the world we have already been and where we would like to go in the future.  Mrs Taylor said she would like a couple of weeks in Barbados, so we looked carefully and found it on the globe.  We asked what the blue line was and Mrs Taylor told us it was called the Equator and that places close to the Equator are very, very hot.

We all decided we would like to go to Barbados too!

At the moment, we are working very hard to become ‘Year One Ready’.   We are so very nearly ready but one thing that would help us massively is if we leave our toys at home so they don’t get lost or broken, so as from next week Mrs Taylor and Mrs Payne have asked us to be really brave and not bring our toys into school.

We are really looking forward to the trip to Manchester Airport next week, the weather is reported to be very hot again, so please make sure your children have sun cream and bring a hat into school.

We hope to see you at the Garden Party tomorrow, if your child is in the Rose Queen Retinue, please gather on the front lawn at midday.
