Reception Blog - WB Monday 21st September
Date: 24th Sep 2020 @ 7:50pm
Our first full week is complete in Reception and even though we all may be feeling a little tired we have managed to accomplish lots and it has been a joy to teach them. The children have developed a real thirst for learning, and they have been excited to start Phonics, Literacy and Maths lessons.
In Phonics we have been learning the sound ‘a’ this week. On Monday we learnt the letter sound, name and formation before moving on to applying it to the words ‘at’, ‘an’ and ‘and’. On Wednesday we found words that began with the sound and on Thursday looked at the high frequency word ‘am’. The children have grasped the understanding of the formation well and are enjoying showing us all their new knowledge.
In Maths we have been looking at the number 3. We have practised the formation and then used our cutting skills to cut out different objects. In addition to this we have been ordering different sizes.
In Literacy, we have been labelling different objects using CVC words and as well as recognising initial sounds.
Our first Forest Schools session happened this afternoon and the children absolutely adored finding treausre and collecting it in their very own treasure box. Please see the pictures to what fun they had.
I have attached the children's home learning sounds to their individual page. You can sign on using the information at the front of their diary and using the verification code 713013.
Next week is our Cinderella day! We are very excited to be sharing costumes, reading stories, making glass slippers, decorating biscuits and maybe even inviting a special guest in. If anyone is having trouble with costumes, then please do send me a message and we can make arrangements.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
