Reception Blog week beginning 7th March 2022
We've had a wonderful start to our half term in Reception. This week the children have been introduced to their new text, The Something. Following our discovery of the hole outside, the children made some interesting predictions in what might be down the hole by writing sentences. We have then discussed by writing captions the differences in the characters that might be down the hole. This has allowed the children to practise the use of capital letters, hand writing, finger spaces, and full stops.
In maths we have been learning about number bonds to 10. The children have been using their 10 frames to represent equals of 10. The children have also been using their new maths skills in their own learning, when feeding the caterpillars. It would be beneficial to question your child on these at home as they need to become known facts.
In RE we have been learning all bout Palm Sunday. The children have been acting out scenes using the props they have created themselves!
We have been making animals shelters in Forest School using all natural resources. We have been talking about designing the shelters, what materials are better for being water proof and how to make different sized shelters. We have also been discussing different types of animals we may find in the forest and differences they may have such as footprints, diets & fur types.
We have had some wonderful fluffy new arrivals into Reception. Two baby Rabbits, Daisy and Dusty. The rabbits will help the children learn to have responsibility. The children have been fantastic when caring for the Rabbits by ensuring they have water, food, fresh veg and lots of exercise.
