Pensarn Day 3

Date: 29th Mar 2023 @ 5:45pm

Day Three started well with every room improving on their daily room inspection scores.  There were also pancakes and syrup for breakfast, which were very well received!

Mr Cotton and Mrs Pirie’s group braved the rain this morning for wilderness skills.  Deep in the forest, they learnt the all important rule of three and which flowers we could eat.  They built shelters, toasted marshmallows and enjoyed hot chocolate around the burning fire.  Amelia showed an excellent knowledge and Ewan and Harley excelled in lighting the fire.  After lunch, they moved onto orienteering, developing map skills and teamwork (Eliza was an excellent team leader!).  Standouts were Essie, Amelia and Emilia who completed both routes in under 45 minutes!

Mrs McLean’s group enjoyed archery this morning.  They played a number of games, including one where Erin was amazing and popped a balloon on the first go!  They all improved enormously over the course of the morning – William, Eddie, Charlie and Alessia particularly.  After lunch, they headed back out to the harbour to step onto a canoe.  They were very reassured to have an instructor on each canoe!  There were races and a great game with a ball.  It got quite competitive and Tilly threw a cup of water at Mrs McLean but allegedly she deserved it.  Lily, Eddie and William ended up swimming and everyone got hosed down at the end.  A

Mrs Sant’s group went gorge walking.  It was freezing but fun!  Bea jumped in a lot despite the cold.  After lunch, they went rock climbing.  It was cold and difficult but Paige did really well.  Ollie, Paige, Bea, Bethany, Will and Josh all made it to the top.  Unfortunately, it was too slippery to abseil back down.  A challenging day given the weather and activities but they all stayed positive.  Leila particularly threw herself into the gorge walking – literally!

Curry and sticky toffee pudding for tea tonight followed by the infamous Trashion Show (picture tomorrow!).  We are also manhandling any children who haven’t yet had a shower into their bathrooms!

A super day with a super bunch of children!  They are all doing fantastically well.
