Our first week in Year 3
Date: 9th Sep 2022 @ 4:27pm
Year 3 have made a fantastic start! We have been learning all about the routines and rules of the classroom, expectations now that we are in Key Stage 2. The children have had a fantastic week and have settled in really quickly, although I’m sure they are going home tonight feeling rather tired!
Just a little reminder that Maths and English CGP books will be sent home on Monday and the tasks will be due the following Monday. Spellings will also be sent in planners on Monday for a little quiz on Friday. We will try to assess the children using our Accelerated Reader system next week so that book levels can be updated. Please read daily at home. Thank you for your support.
Maths
We have started to look at place value! We now have another column to think about in Year 3- the hundreds column and we will be learning all about numbers up to 1000 over the coming weeks.
English
A mysterious jar arrived in our classroom on Wednesday filled with water and a strange diary entry which spoke of a waterfall and African animals. We asked questions that were puzzling us and made predictions about the story! We have also started our new spelling rule and guided reading unit this week.
Other areas of learning
On Tuesday, we had a fantastic PE lesson learning how to pass and control a football. Our focus this term will be netball and football skills.
The children enjoyed learning about some basic first aid and what to do if you need to call for help! Also, they have completed some fabulous artwork for our RE display using watercolours.
On Friday, we enjoyed a forest school session with Mr Simmons and had a Science lesson with Mr Cotton learning all about forces!
Have a super weekend and please get in touch on Dojo if you need me.
