Hello everyone,
Firstly, I apologise for getting behind with writing this blog. I know that they are often read with interest and that many of you like to know what your children are learning in our lessons. Hopefully, I can update you accordingly!
You will probably have gathered that in Maths we have been learning time - far and away one of the trickiest concepts for many children to grasp fully. We have been telling time to the minute, converting analogue to digitial clocks (and vice versa), and calculating the duration between two times. I would encourage taking every opportunity to get your child to tell you the time, particularly on an analogue clock, as this will hopefully re-inforce what we have done in class. Next week we move on to angles and properties of shape.
Our topic lessons have moved a little away from the rainforest to the country of Brazil. We will be learning about how the life of a child in Brazil differs from our own later this week, and as you will have noted, in two weeks time we have a Brazilian music and dance company coming into school to do a workshop, which I think everyone is really looking forward to. After all, 30 children gently playing drums - that's going to be relaxing, right?!
Another experience that is coming very soon is our trip to Stoke Minster and the Hanley city centre mosque. We are currently learning about Islam in our RE lessons, and the children are already compiling a list of questions thye want answered.
Of course, also on the horizon are our school sports day, Garden Party and the Key Stage 2 show, so preparations for all these are really hotting up now. Thank you to everyone who has supported their child learn the songs we are singing for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, it's really helped!
