Hello everyone!
Another really busy week in Year 3, and luckily the weather has held for our trips and outside activities. I was so proud of all the class at Sports Day last Friday and they participated to their absolute best - even if our relay didn't quite go to plan... What was most rewarding to see was their encouragement for all the children in the school and their joy in celebrating successes in other year groups.
On Monday we had a fascinating day visting two different places of worship in Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke Minster is an old civic church with many interesting features of historical importance and Reverend Geoff Eze was a wonderfully enthusiastic and charasmatic host. Hanley City Centre Mosque is a much newer building but equally as important to the local community. Our Imam told the class a great deal about the building and the five pillars of Islam that underpin the Muslim faith. We learned a lot about the prophets who spread the word of Allah (God) and the children were very interested to hear that Jesus is just as an important figure in the Qur'an as he is in the Bible.
Yesterday, we had a visit from Art Brazil, a local company who deliver music and dance sessions with a South American flair. I think that I can safely say that enthusiasm for this amongst the class was very high indeed - particualrly the drums! I hope that the pictures do it justice.
Rehersal for Joseph is coming on really well. we have had our first proper run through, and I was so pleased by how well the children know their words and the actions to their two songs. More rehersals next week in preparation for dress rehersal on Monday 15th July.
A more 'normal' week, next week. We have quite a lot of maths to get through on capacity and mass, in addition to finsihing our science topic of animal and human development.
I hope to see many of you tomorrow at the garden party. Enjoy your weekend!
