Half term update from Reception
Date: 30th May 2019 @ 2:42pm
Happy half term! We can’t quite believe that we are at this point in the year already. It really is flying and we can only put that down to having such a wonderful time. The children have thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend time outdoors since coming back from Easter as they have been making words in the sand, counting using tweezers and getting messy in the water tray.
The children worked extremely hard last half term in all areas but particularly Literacy and Maths. We have been preparing for year one with whole class teaching and the children have adapted to the format very well. This will continue until summer to help the children become more familiar with the set up for their next school year. Each year our aim is to ensure the children have a smooth transition from the Reception setting to year 1 and this year is no exception.
Homework has been set for the children to complete whilst they are off from school. There is a variety of challenges to complete, however the phonics activity would be extremely beneficial if they are able to complete every day. It may seem like a lot but a short 10 minutes every day will make a huge difference when they return to school.
We have updated the class topic web to make you aware of the areas of learning we will be completing over the summer term. Please do look closely at the dates on there so that you don’t miss any important information. As always please do contact us if you have any queries.
Before we finish this update, we would like to say thank you for the fundraising you have done throughout the year. It has enabled us to buy many resources from playdough to capes, plants to bunting and we are about to have a delivery of a reading house. It is greatly appreciated the recognition parents have shown towards the challenges that many schools are currently facing.
Enjoy the rest of the half term break and see you back in school on Tuesday 4th June.
