Greek soldiers

Our summer term topic is Life in Ancient Greece and to start it off we decided to have a go at a STEM (science, technology. engineering, maths) activity. The brief was very simple: make a member of your table group look like a soldier from Ancient Greece. Following some discussion about a way forward, the children decided that a bit of research was needed so they used IT and reference books. What followed was a bit trashion show-esque but worked really well. The class have learnt quite a bit about the equipment a hoplite would have carried as well as some resons for the design of the clothing/armour. They also had a very active afternoon following the completion of SATs.
