Darwin's finches and evolution

Date: 24th Nov 2021 @ 7:54am

This half term's topic of Inheritance and Evolution has now reached Darwin's voyage to the Galapagos Islands. Here he made many drawings and collected samples of the various species from each island. Yesterday, we debated why the beaks of finches from each island were so very different. Could it be that the large ground finch has such a large beak because of its diet of hard nuts? And what is the gruesomely-nicknamed 'Vampire Finch' and why did it get that name?
