British Science Week 2025

Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 3:51pm

Whilst I would love every week to be science week, just like Christmas it only comes around once a year, so we were keen to celebrate it accordingly.

Throught the school, the children have discovered aspects as varied as food production and modification through breeding in farming, how to survive in space - for example, did you know that astronauts on the International Space Station are not 'floating' in space? They are actually falling! Just don't ask me about their water supply...

Individual classes have had lessons as diverse as learning about what happens if the wrong materials are flushed down the toilet, how to change the size and shape of a shadow, the effects of water and temperature on Antartic glaciers, whether all coins are magnetic, how to make invisible ink, and how to design a simple lever mechanism using a pencil, a ruler, some plasticene and a plastic bag.

Before Easter we will be relaunching our science ambassadors program, and hopefully in the summer term the return of Science club, so listen out for further announcements!

As always, if your child gets involved in science at home and you wish to send photos over to share, please do so as it is so nice to see what things excite and interest them.
