Our first week back

Monday

On Monday, we started our ratio unit in maths and compared objects in groups. We also did spelling in our new groups. After break we did creative writing which is where we create our own piece of independent writing, we could choose any thing at all- some of us wrote Christmas stories. Finally, we did PE and played basketball.

Tuesday

We started with My Happy Mind which is where we do a session about our brains and how to control them, we thought about how we are feeling about going to high school and how we will be able to use the things we are good at to help us when we move. Then we did maths and learnt about the ratio symbol. Again, we did spelling in our groups. In English, we looked at our new text and made predictions about it: The story of the wind. In the afternoon we were writing a newspaper article about events that have happened in History. We chose to write about the moon landings and Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

Wednesday

In maths we did ratio once again. After maths we did spelling, we went in our groups again to finish our units off. In English, we had to read our new model text then we were answering questions about it and what happens. In the afternoon, we did RE and learnt about the Eucharist and the Passover meal. We found out why this is a special Christian celebration and how it is celebrated. We also did Spanish and recapped greetings to each other and then we went to hymn practice.

Thursday

On Thursday, we did scale drawing in Maths and the went to church. Reverend Sandi asked us all to make a resolution and put it in a box, we will open these in summer and see how many of us stuck to our goals. In English we explored the model text and looked at the features of a newspaper – we have to write our own soon! In the afternoon we had computing and music.

Friday

Today we met our reading buddies and had our first session reading with another class. We have paired up with year 2 and we had a lovely time sharing books with them. Then we had forest school and explored making shelters and keeping safe outside. We had art with Mrs Taylor in the afternoon. A very busy week!
