Year 3 class blogs

9th May

We have had another fabulous week of learning in Year 3.

In English this week, we have been writing a mystery narrative set in an Egyptian pyramid! These should be finished on Monday. They have been very exciting, full of treasure, mysterious traps and lots of dramatic events!

In Maths, we have been finding fractions of an amount and problem solving with this as a concept.

In RE we have been looking at the story of Adam and Eve and then the story of Moses from the old testament to look at the ten commandments which help Christians today to live how God wants them to live.

In PE this week we enjoyed creating balances and shapes using points and patches. We also enjoyed travelling in different ways, rolling and jumping. We loved using the equipment like beams to help us to create different shapes.

In History, we continued to explore what the Romans brought to Britain. On VE day we had a special picnic lunch followed by a carousel of lots of wonderful activities. We also enjoyed showcasing what we have been learning in our exhibition. There are a few pictures below for you to enjoy.

Have a lovely weekend.

2nd May

We have had a wonderful week in Year 3.

In English this week we have been writing some exciting character descriptions and threatening paragraphs which will go towards our mystery narratives next week. We also planned our stories out on Friday!

In Maths this week we have been adding, subtracting and comparing fractions, before moving onto finding fractions of an amount.

In RE we considered rules at home and at school, as well as rules when we're out and about. Soon, we will be looking at the ten commandments and looking at Jesus' most important rules.

In PE this week we enjoyed fielding skills and then moved on to some batting and bowling in rounders and cricket, before playing some matches.

In History, we looked at what the Romans brought to Britain, while in Computing we enjoyed programming and using scratch.
