This week has seen Year 6 work incredibly hard. Their determination in preparation for next week's SATS has been impressive and I am sure they are all ready for a restful weekend.
In Maths, we have been looking at properties of shapes and solving problems using our knowledge of these properties. We have been using protractors but also calculating angles using known facts and logical deduction.
In English, we have completed our Attenborough-style commentry script for an imaginary documentary about arctic foxes. The standard of writing has been noticeably high. Our text for Guided Reading is currently Anne Frank's Diary. We have been looking at her choice of language but also trying to visualise the annexe she lived in after reading her description. You can see some of the results below.
Science has seen us consolidating our knowledge of healthy lifestyles, looking at types of drugs (harmful and non-harmful) and creating a TV presentation or short drama to encourage viewers to live a healthy life.
Year 6 have also been helping Reception get used to lunchtimes in the hall- a daunting prospect for small people. After lunch, they have all enjoyed playing together.
In music, we have been continuing our investigations into Steve Reich's Minimalist music and succeeded in performing a short extract of Music for Pieces of Wood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LbmvD7ytDc&t=697s
Our week ended with our class book, The Boy at the Back of the Class, outside on the field.
Well done to Year 6 for a week of hard work and friendship. This weekend, enjoy some relaxed time, get plenty of sleep and we look forward to seeing you at the normal time on Monday.
We wish you a lovely weekend.
