Week Beginning 12th January 2015

In Numeracy this week we have been looking at cracking superhero codes by ordering numbers.  On Monday we looked at ordering numbers from smallest to biggest and on Tuesday we ordered them from biggest to smallest. 

The website below has some excellent ordering games should you like to practise (ordering largest to smallest did prove particularly tricky!)

On Wednesday we learnt how to gather data.  We had to find out who was the most popular superhero.  We then used our tally charts to make a pictogram.

In Literacy we wrote questions for different superheroes.  When the superheroes wrote back they also told us about a new band of superheroes…The Thrilling Three!  So we went off in search of them.  We have started learning a non-chronological report about The Thrilling Three which we hope to share with friends and family next week.  The report map can be seen below.  We will be practising this more next week.

In the afternoons we have designed our own superhero badges and we have been on the hunt for famous superheroes outside.

On Friday we had our first gymnastics lesson.  The children behaved brilliantly!  In RE some of the teachers shared objects that were special to them.  For homework please share with you child an item that is special to you and explain why it is special.
