First week of the Summer Term
Date: 22nd Apr 2022 @ 3:49pm
What an eventful week for a first week back! Firstly, thank you for your support during the past few days whilst we have had Ofsted here. It has been greatly appreciated. Year 6 were a credit to you and the school, behaving responsibly and expressing their love of the school and their learning beautifully. They set wonderful examples to the rest of the school and, as a result, are all now School Ambassadors. Richly deserved!
We have embarked on several new topics this week: our overarching topic is World War 2; in maths we will begin ratio and proportion and in English we will begin writing units based on Ways of the Wolf.
In PE, the children are focussing on teambuilding for the next few weeks. This week, this took the form of games including a kind of Floor is Lava-style challenge. It is noticeable how much the children have matured over the year, as they worked strategically together.
Health and wellbeing will be our focus for Science. As such, the children were set the task of devising several exercises that worked specific muscles. Deltoids were put under pressure, abs were toned and biceps pumped all in the name of Science.
Today, in English, our new book Ways of the Wolf was revealed through randomly selected words andshort phrases. The children predicted the content of the text piecing together these clues.
In music, we began to explore the soundworld of Minimalism. Check out Clapping by Steve Reich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH1j06bMHDQ&t=4s
After a brief respite, homework will be set this weekend for the coming week. Take a look at MyMaths and Spag.com and don't forget TTRS too.
We wish you all a lovely weekend.
