John Bishop

We were very lucky to have had a visit from John Bishop in school on Monday 28th November. He came in to talk to Key Stage 2 children about his life, goals and inspirations. He gave an assembly, introduced by his Godson, Matthew, and then went in to each class to answer the children's questions. We are hugely grateful to John for taking the time out of his busy schedule to inspire us.

John talked to the pupils about his life, growing up in Winsford, and the variety of different things that he did before becoming a stand up comedian. The children were fascinated to learn that John worked in a factory at the age of sixteen before he chose to return to school to study for A levels and then attend university. He worked for a company making medicine once he graduated and then took a ten month break to cycle from Australia back to the UK in order to raise money for the NSPCC. John shared stories about his fund raising work with Sport Relief, his trips to Kenya and his astronaut training. Many of our pupils were excited to hear about his football experiences at Old Trafford and Anfield!

If the children could remember just one message from John's visit it would be to do your very best at whatever you choose to do with your life and always try to do no harm to others on your journey through life.

Meeting John was inspirational for the staff and pupils alike. In order to thank him we have asked him to name a charity for us to support. We will be supporting The Childrens' Activity Farm Trust,  a local Cheshire charity that offer respite care for children, in the new year.
