KS2 Writing Competition

KS2 Writing Competition

The Literacy Trust are running a fantastic competition, challenging children to design and write their very own magazine.  Pupils can choose whether they would like to work on their own issue of Girl Talk or Mega magazine.

Templates and instructions are available below for pupils to complete five separate activities which, together, form their own magazine – a celebrity feature, a review, a quiz, a storyboard and a front cover.  Pupils are welcome to print these off at school if unable to at home.

Pupils who complete at least three of the five activities are eligible to be entered into a prize draw to win an eReader, a £50 book voucher, magazine subscriptions and a visit from a storyteller!

There is a bonus category for the best magazine.  Our staff will pick a winner from each KS2 class to enter into the bonus writing category. Submitted magazines will then be judged by a panel at The Literacy Trust and the winner will be invited to the Immediate Media head office in London to meet with the Girl Talk and Mega teams and find out more about how the magazines are put together.

The competition is for pupils in Years 3-6 but we welcome entries from KS1 and we will award a prize to the best entry from each class.  However, we would be able to enter them into the official competition.

Entries must be brought into school by Friday 4th December.  If successful The Literacy Trust will contact myself in the New Year.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to seeing some wonderful magazines and identifying those budding journalistics amoungst us!
