Author Visit

A Fantastic Day with our Visiting Author!

All of the children have had an amazing day with our visiting author Damian Harvey.  Damian started his visit with a thoroughly entertaining assembly, telling us the story of Silly Jack.  His choice of props and use of voices delighted the staff and children.  Marcus being piggy backed around the hall was a particular highlight!

Throughout the day Damian worked with each class, retelling stories and poems.  He showed us how stories are planned and developed, explaining this is why teachers suggest improvements you could make.  The children were also able to ask questions about his life as an author and find out more about the writing process. 

At the end of the day pupils had the opportunity to purchase some of Damian’s books.  I was blown away by the number of pupils waiting so patiently.  Thank you very much for supporting Damian and I hope the children relish reading his texts.
