York - Day 1

Date: 4th May 2022 @ 5:12pm

After a long coach journey, the children arrived safely and enjoyed their lunch (as you can see from the happy faces on the Facebook page). They have enjoyed a walking tour of York with their guide, Keith, who taught us how Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries and used the stone to extend his houses!  We also saw the church where Guy Fawkes was Christened and we discovered why there are empty plinths on the Minster.  We had lots of fun exploring the streets and imagining life in York all those years ago.  Keith finally led us to a very special, mystical place – an ice cream parlour!

After a delicious dinner of chicken burger, chips, beans and salad (followed by chocolate cake and more ice cream!), we wrote our postcards and had some time to play on the racecourse.  We are currently winding down and getting ready for bed as we have a busy day tomorrow!
