Year 4 March 2019

Date: 10th Mar 2019 @ 2:24pm

It was lovely to see so many children in year four enjoy World Book day last week.  The costumes were fantastic and the stories told and written were amazing. As a school the class took part in 'The Crayon that Quit' letter writing, which used lots of persuasive writing skills and features whilst discussing the true colour of the sun.

Many of the children took home stories they had written and were keen to enter in the 500 word story writing competition which finished at 7pm on 8th March. Hopefully lots of you managed to submit a story for this, despite the short notice and time frame.

This week in English we will be continuing to focus on persuasive writing, writing persuasive adverts and developing our persuasive writing skills.

In maths this week we will be looking more closely at equivalent fractions and vulgar fractions alongside decimals and percentages.

Our science topic 'Eating and Digestion' will continue to focus on food chains and different food choices needed for each of the different animal groups (herbivores, carnivores and omnivores).

Reminder, Natural disasters homework is to be brought in by friday.

Please also note that this week Mr Woolam and Miss Frayne our student teachers for the past six weeks will be leaving us on friday. The children have loved having the extra adult helpers in class and I'm sure we will all miss them and wish them well on their way to becoming great future class teachers.
