Year 3 WC 17th October 2016

Date: 17th Oct 2016 @ 8:44pm

Well we have had a fantastic day at Tatton Park for our Stone Age experience day. The weather managed to stay fine for the morning activities but unfortunately the heavy rain forced us inside in the afternoon. However we still had fun finding out about Stone Age cave paintings and having a go at some of our own. I was very pleased with all of the children's behaviour throughout the day. They were all keen to contribute in the sessions, offering relevant ideas to questions and asking their own thoughful questions. Well done Year 3! I will be putting some photographs of the day in our class gallery.

Last week took us longer than expected to master column addition so this week we will be moving onto column subtraction of 3 digits. We will be spending the next three days on this so that children are confident with the method. Once they are secure they will be deepening their understanding of column addition and subtraction throiugh reasoning and problem solving tasks.

In literacy children will begin to plan their own warning story based on the canal story we have been doing.

Today's literacy homework is to tell you all about our trip to Tatton today. They must give a detailed account and tell you all about what they have learnt. If you want to give some prompts, ask them about how houses were made, how they made fire, and what they've learnt about the deer at Tatton.
