Year 3 Roman day

Date: 28th Mar 2019 @ 12:21pm

Hello everyone,

One week to go until another term completed and it's been as busy as ever in Year 3. Firstly I would like to thank everyone who came to our Stay and Make on Tuesday, your support was greatly appreciated and I think that you can all be proud of your child's efforts (and give yourselves a slap on the back too!) - photos below certainly show everyone pulling together to make Roman shields and catapults.

I think I can say with certainty that our Roman topic has been the highlight of my year so far, and anything that gets me to put on a pair of sandals in March has to be considered out of the ordinary! I shall be sad when we finish our work on the Romans, but I'm hoping to go out with a bang this week by making model aqueducts.

I hope that everyone enjoyed our Easter service. We deliberately kept our involvement relatively straightforward as the class had done a lot for their class assembly two weeks earlier, but it was really nice to see Year 3 so well represented in the school choir and I hope that you enjoyed this performance too.

We will be starting some end of term assessments this week, although we may keep the maths until after the Easter holidays - more details will follow about related homework over the break which we hope will prepare the children for work on fractions and time. Tuesday will be our Resurrection Day as part of our learning about Holy Week.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for all the positive comments that myself and Mrs Pulle' received during parent consultations. Your children mean a great deal to both of us and it was so nice to hear about how they talk about what they have learnt in our lessons.

This will be my last blog until we return on April 23rd, so I hope that everyone enjoys the break however you choose to spend it.
