Year 2 class blog w/b 3.12.18

Date: 7th Dec 2018 @ 7:15pm

We have had a busy week in Year 2. We had a visitor on Monday: a very cheeky elf from the North Pole. Tinsel Sparkledust has been up to mischief all week in the classroom and the children have enjoyed spotting where she has been hiding and what trouble she has caused!

We had a super Polar Express Day on Monday and the children really enjoyed their journey and their hot chocolate! We have written letters to Santa and also written a list poem about the train using similes.

Incarnation day was lovely and the children enjoyed hearing the Christmas story, with a particular focus in Year 2 being the visit of the Magi (or wise men). We enjoyed looking at and finding out about the three special gifts and thought about what spiritual gifts we would give to Jesus if he came to the world today.

In Maths this week we focused on multiplication and division.

The children have been working extremely hard on the nativity and have really enjoyed all of the acting and singing involved in putting the production together. We had a super mock dress rehearsal this afternoon.

Here are some key dates for next week:

  • Tuesday 11th 2pm and 6pm Nativity performances
  • Wednesday 12th Visit to the New Vic to see Wind in the Willows
  • Thursday 13th Christmas dinner day
  • Friday 14th Christmas jumper day
