Year 2 - Week beginning 15th January

Date: 19th Jan 2018 @ 12:21pm

This week seems to have zipped past so that can only mean one thing, we have been having lots of fun.

In English, we have been changing different parts of our story Jim and the Beanstalk. We started by exploring the different features that we could change in our stories and with this came our new game of popcorn (this is game about team building and helping each other think of more exiting ideas).  As the week went on, we drew our story maps into our books and then wrote the stories in full. The final piece of work we completed was a self-assessment, this helped us to see the areas that we had done well in and which parts we need to focus on next week when inventing our own fairy tale.

In Maths, we have been continuing our work on multiplication and this week specifically we have developing our reasoning and problem solving skills. The children have been asked to find the answer to a question, explain how they found the answer and then suggest an alternative method. This has proven a challenge, but it is great to see the children questioning themselves as well as each other to ensure they have the correct answer.

In PE we have started out football games and the children have been applying their team building skills well.

In part of our RE work we have focused on ‘forgiveness’. We have looked at what we would do to ask for forgiveness in school as well as in Church. The children gathered some fantastic ideas which demonstrated their kind and thoughtful natures.

Just a little reminder that our meeting for Beeston is on Monday evening at 5.30pm in the main school hall. It would be great to see as many of you there as Possible.

Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday.
